State-run Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has reported a profit of Rs 262 crore in the third quarter of the current financial year, marking its first return to profitability since 2007.
The company attributed this turnaround to innovation, network expansion, cost optimisation, and customer-focused service improvements.
Announcing the results, BSNL Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) A Robert J Ravi stated, “We are pleased with our financial performance this quarter, which reflects our focus on innovation, customer satisfaction, and aggressive network expansion. With these efforts, we expect revenue growth to improve further, exceeding 20 per cent by the end of the financial year.”
According to the company, revenue from Mobility services grew by 15 per cent, Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) revenue increased by 18 per cent, and Leased Line services saw a 14 per cent rise compared to the same quarter last year.
BSNL also reported a reduction in finance costs and overall expenditure, leading to a decline in losses by over Rs 1,800 crore year-on-year.
The telecom operator highlighted several initiatives aimed at improving customer experience, including National WiFi Roaming, BiTV – Free Entertainment for Mobile Customers, and IFTV for FTTH Customers.
BSNL stated that its focus on service quality and assurance has helped strengthen customer trust.
The company also outlined its strategy for future growth, citing ongoing 4G rollout, fiber-optic infrastructure upgrades, and preparations for 5G as key priorities.
Additionally, BSNL acknowledged the role of government support, including strategic revival initiatives, spectrum allocation, and capital infusion, in bolstering its operations.
Looking ahead, BSNL expects its revenue growth to exceed 20 per cent by the end of the financial year, with a continued emphasis on service excellence and digital transformation.
