In a stunning revelation, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has now affirmed to the Supreme Court that the NEET-UG exam paper leak had actually occurred at Oasis School in Hazaribagh, Jharkhand.

This is the maiden official affirmation by the CBI since it began investigating the case in June, according to a report from The Indian Express.

During the Supreme Court hearing, the probing agency revealed that the leak happened at Oasis School on 5 May, the day of the exam. The paper was also solved within the same school.

The CBI also presented evidence that Oasis School principal Ehsanul Haque and centre superintendent Imtiyaz Alam took bribes for facilitating the leak, including the recovery of post-dated cheques.

Currently, Haque and Alam are in CBI custody in connection with the case. Both have denied any wrongdoing as of now.

Detailing the alleged modus operandi, the CBI explained that one of the key suspects entered the school's strongroom on the exam morning with a toolkit to access the papers.

The suspect allegedly photographed the question paper and sent it to a group known as the ‘Solver Gang’ in Hazaribagh, where a group of medical students solved it.

The CBI also revealed CCTV footage depicting the main accused, Pankaj Kumar alias Aditya, accessing the strongroom at Oasis School.

When Chief Justice of India D Y Chandrachud inquired whether the leaked paper was sent to other centers, the CBI responded that their investigation identified four locations in Bihar and Patna where the solved question papers were sent.

Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, representing the CBI, informed the court that a total of 155 students benefited from the leak — 30 in Patna and 125 in Hazaribagh.
