Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday (7 February) accused the Congress party of hindering the modernisation of the Indian Armed Forces.
PM Modi made these remarks while replying to the 'Motion of Thanks' in the Rajya Sabha said that Congress-led governments ceded a large part of India's territory to enemies.
"The Congress, which consistently exploited caste, creed, and language fault lines; the Congress that fostered separatism and terrorism for its own interests; the Congress that exacerbated violence, separatism, and underdevelopment in the Northeast; the Congress whose governance posed a considerable hurdle in tackling Naxalism; the Congress that ceded substantial national territory to adversaries; and the Congress that impeded the modernisation of our armed forces, is now espousing views on national and internal security," PM Modi said during his speech.

Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
