Prime Minister Narendra Modi targeted the Congress party for its alleged corruption and divisive politics while laying the foundation for development projects worth Rs 7,600 crore on Wednesday (9 October).
Regarding the results of the Haryana assembly elections, where the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is going to form government for the third consecutive term, Modi said it has shown the nation's mood.
"After completing two terms, getting elected for the third term in Haryana is historic. The entire ecosystem of Congress and the urban Naxal gang was misleading the public," Modi alleged.
"They tried to spread lies among the Dalits. The Dalits realised that Congress would snatch away reservations from them and distribute them to their vote bank," Modi said claiming record support of Dalits to the BJP.
Similarly, the PM said that farmers and youth supported the BJP despite Congress' instigation. "The public of Haryana has shown that they will not fall prey to the hatred conspiracies of the Congress and its urban Naxal allies," he added.
"Congress has repeatedly proved how irresponsible it is and is forming new narratives to divide the country. It brings formulae to divide society and mislead voters," Modi said.
Elaborating on Congress' formulae, he said, "Keep terrorising Muslims and convert them into a vote bank and consolidate it. No Congress leader has ever said that there are various castes among Muslims."
"They (Congress leaders) maintain silence over Muslim castes but when it comes to Hindu society, Congress starts its conversation with castes. It is Congress policy to raise one Hindu caste against the other," he added.
"Congress knows the more the Hindus get divided, the more it will benefit. Congress wants to keep the fire ignited in Hindu society so that it can earn electoral brownie points," the PM continued.
"Congress uses this formula everywhere across India during elections. It induces toxicity in society to consolidate its vote bank. Congress contests elections on communal and caste lines," Modi further said.
He alleged that Congress is undermining 'Sarvajan sukhaay, sarvajan hitaay' motto (Everybody's happiness, everybody's interests) and Sanatana traditions and is playing politics of hatred.
The PM claimed that even senior Congress leaders felt helpless over the state of the grand old party and emphasised Mahatma Gandhi's statement that Congress should be finished.
"Congress is bent on destroying the country. We all have to be aware and cautious. I am sure that the people of Maharashtra will give a befitting reply to all these forces bent on destroying the society," Modi said.
He urged the people of Maharashtra to unitedly vote for the BJP-Mahayuti government to ensure development and defeat the divisive forces as Maharashtra is set to vote later this year.
