The seat-sharing agreement for Uttar Pradesh between two key INDI Alliance partners - Congress and Samajwadi Party - has been finalised.
As per the agreement, Congress will contest on 17 out of the 80 Lok Sabha seats in Uttar Pradesh, while SP will fight on the remaining 63 seats.
Apart from RaeBareli and Amethi, the Congress will field candidates from Kanpur Nagar, Fatehpur Sikri, Basgaon, Saharanpur, Prayagraj, Maharajganj, Amroha, Jhansi, Bulandshahar, Ghaziabad, Mathura, Sitapur, Barabanki, and Deoria.
Further, the party will also contest from Varanasi, which is the constituency of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Earlier on Wednesday, while asserting that “all is well that ends well,” Akhilesh Yadav had said that an alliance with the Congress will happen in Uttar Pradesh for the Lok Sabha elections.
Speaking to reporters, Akhilesh said, “All is well that ends well… Yes, there will be an alliance. There is no conflict. Everything will be out and clear soon… All is well that ends well…”.
This comes days after the SP chief had last week said he would join Rahul Gandhi's yatra only after seat sharing was finalised.
