Coronavirus Latest: Bhutan Confirms First Coronavirus Case As US Tourist With Travel History To India Tests Positive

Bhutanese Prime Minister Lotay Tshering announced on Friday that one positive coronavirus case has been confirmed in the country.

The patient is a 76-year-old tourist from the United States who arrived in Bhutan via Guwahati, Assam on 2 March.

"We would like to inform the public that one positive case of COVID-19 was confirmed at 11 p.m. on March 5, and the result was validated at 12.30 am on March 6," Tshering said as per reports.

The patient was reportedly travelling with 10 other passenger, of which 8 were Indian nationals. As per reports, these 8 Indian national along with the driver and tour-guide of the US tourist were quarantined in Bhutan.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal confirmed that the government had identified as many as 88 people who had come in contacted with the infected Delhi man. All of them will be screened for the virus, he added.

2:19 PM, 4 March - Coronavirus testing lab is going to be setup at Lady Hardinge Hospital to constuct quick testings for the infections. Another one will be setup at Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Narayan (LNJP) Hospital if necessary, said the CM.

Thirty-six people show symptoms in Telangana

2:12 PM, 4 March - Out of over 80 people who had come in contact with the infected techie from Hyderabad, 36 are showing “some symptoms” of the coronavirus infection, Telangana government officials said.

The 24-year-old techie had contracted the virus during his visit to Dubai and was tested positive in Hyderabad. He had travelled by a bus from Bengaluru to Hyderabad, leaving all his co-passengers, family members among others under suspicion of contraction.

Over 16 lakh screened for Coronavirus at India’s ports

2:00 PM, 4 March - Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan also informed that authorities have so far screened 5.89 lakh passengers at airports, over 15,000 at sea ports and 10 lakh at border with Nepal. 27,000 people are under community surveillance.

All International Flights To Be Screened

1:27 PM, 4 March - Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan has announced that all the International Flights will henceforth be screened for Coronavirus patients. Earlier, only flights from select nations were being screened.

The government has tightened entry conditions for the nationals of Italy, Iran, South Korea, and Japan.

Sixteen Italian tourists and 12 Indian have been infected with Coronavius in the country. Out of the 12 Indians, three patients infected in Kerala have recovered fully which puts the active cases at 25.
