The Supreme Court on Thursday (16 May) heard Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's plea challenging the arrest by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in the liquor policy case and deferred the matter for further hearing tomorrow.

While explaining the merits of the case, Additional Solicitor General S V Raju, representing the ED, argued before a division bench of Justices Dipankar Datta and Sanjiv Khanna that the arrest was preceded by six complaints.

"The most important material is he (Kejriwal) demanded Rs 100 crore in bribe. If that material is there, as a result of which Rs 100 crore was generated, it was sent to different places, it reached Goa, and used in election campaign and for AAP," Raju said.

He asserted that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is going to be made an accused in the case and cited payment made by Chaman Preet Singh for Kejriwal's stay in a 7-star hotel in Goa, Grand Hyatt, where bills were running in lakhs of rupees.

"Vicarious role is also there. As far as his role, he demanded 100 crores. 45 crores handled by Chaman Preet Singh, who paid for his hotel in Goa," Raju said citing Sarath Reddy's statement, who is considered the kingpin of the 'South Group.'

The ASG cited Kejriwal's involvement in framing the now scrapped liquor policy as the national convener of AAP and that discussions took place at the CM house with co-accused Vijay Nair's bungalow next to his house.
