After Khadoor Sahib MP Amritpal Singh's mother claimed that his son is not a Khalistan supporter, the 'Waris Punjab De' head issued a clarification on his official X account.

"Today, when I came to know about the statement made by Mataji yesterday, my heart was very sad," Amritpal Singh said on statement by his mother that he only talks about saving Punjab and its youth.

"Dreaming of a Khalsa state is not a crime, it is a matter of pride. We cannot even dream of backing down from the path for which millions of Sikhs have sacrificed their lives," Singh said.

"I have said many times while speaking from the stage that if I had to choose between Panth and family, I would always choose Panth," Singh said recalling martyrdom of Banda Singh Bahadur.

"I warn my family for even thinking about compromising on Sikh Raj, let alone speaking about it. Moving forward, there should be no such negligence when addressing the Sangat," he added.

This comes after his mother said, "He contested the election within the ambit of the Constitution and now he should not be called (a Khalistani supporter). He has taken an oath of the Constitution of India."

Singh had contested the elections as an Independent while being in jail under the National Security Act (NSA). He was granted a parole from 5 July to 9 July to take oath as the Lok Sabha MP.
