US electric carmaker Tesla CEO Elon Musk on Friday (7 June) congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi for returning to power after emerging victorious in the Lok Sabha elections.
Musk added that he looks forward to his companies doing "exciting work" in India.
"Congratulations Narendra Modi on your victory in the world’s largest democratic elections! Looking forward to my companies doing exciting work in India," Musk wrote on X.
On Friday, President Droupadi Murmu appointed Narendra Modi as Prime Minister-designate after the BJP-led NDA Parliamentary party endorsed him as its prime ministerial candidate.
PM Modi is set to take Oath at 7.15 pm on Sunday (9 June).
Ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, Musk has announced a visit to India, which was later postponed due to "very heavy Tesla obligations".
“Unfortunately, very heavy Tesla obligations require that the visit to India be delayed, but I do very much look forward to visiting later this year,” Musk said in a post on X on 20 April.
Musk had said that he looked forward to visiting India later in the year.
Prior to the postponement, there were expectations for Musk to unveil Tesla's plans for a manufacturing plant in India, following India's announcement of lower import taxes on specific electric vehicles, contingent upon substantial investment commitments from companies.
