Panchayat Raj Minister in Telangana's Congress government, Danasari Anasuya aka Seethakka visited the house of slain Maoist leader Siripelli Sudhakar aka Sankaranna on Wednesday (24 April).

Sudhakar was killed in an encounter in Chhattisgarh's Kanker district on 16 April along with his wife Sumana aka Rajitha. Hence, Anasuya's visit was meant to console his family.

She met Sudhakar's mother Rajapochamma and assured her of Congress' help in all possible ways, as per The New Indian Express.

After paying tribute to the couple in their village, falling in Chityal mandal of Nalgonda district, she said that the state's ruling Congress government would help Sudhakar’s family.

Sudhakar had been underground for decades and is known to have married Suman in the forest only. The couple was among the 29 Maoists killed.

Anasuya was accompanied by Congress MLA Gandra Satyanarayana Rao, who represents the Bhupalpalle constituency of Warangal district.

In her X bio, Anasuya writes, "Ex Naxalite, MA, PhD, Advocate, Currently LLM Student, Cabinet Minister for Panchayat Raj & Rural Development, RWS, and Women & Child Welfare, Telangana."
