Goldman Sachs announced that Rishi Sunak, former United Kingdom prime minister, has returned to the firm as a senior adviser.
Sunak, who held the role of UK prime minister from October 2022 to July 2024, will collaborate with leaders across New York-based Goldman to advise clients globally on a range of topics, "sharing his unique perspectives and insights on the macroeconomic and geopolitical landscape," Chief Executive Officer David Solomon said in a statement Tuesday, Bloomberg reported.
Before becoming prime minister, Sunak served as Chancellor of the UK Exchequer from February 2020 to July 2022.
His earlier roles include Chief Secretary to the Treasury and Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for the Ministry of Housing, Communities, and Local Government.
Sunak's political journey began when he was elected a Member of Parliament in 2015.
Despite leading the Conservative Party to its most significant loss in the previous general election, Sunak continues to represent Richmond and Northallerton as an MP.
He pledged during the campaign to serve for the entire duration of the next Parliament, irrespective of the election result.
His successor, Labour's Keir Starmer, has until mid-2029 to call the next general election.
Sunak's connection with Goldman Sachs dates back to 2000 when he worked as a summer intern in investment banking.
He later served as an analyst from 2001 to 2004.
Following that, he co-founded an international investment firm working with businesses globally.
