Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Wednesday (16 April) announced the approval of Rs 4,000 crore development initiatives aimed at crafting a 100 year growth blueprint for the city, PTI reported.
Speaking at the 120th anniversary celebration of the PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PHDCCI), Gupta emphasised the importance of alignment between governance and enterprise.
“I hope that the people of PHDCCI will work together with the Delhi government, which will lead to revenue generation in Delhi and create more employment opportunities,” she said.
With a long-term vision at its core, the development plan will target critical urban sectors, including education, healthcare, tourism, transport, and the rejuvenation of the Yamuna.
“We have to work in every sector — be it cleaning the Yamuna, improving education, health, tourism or transportation. We aim to transform the old image of Delhi and build the city from scratch,” Gupta said.
In a further boost to infrastructure, Gupta also announced that the Delhi Jal Board (DJB) has greenlit projects worth Rs 3,000 crore.
Coming from a business background herself, the Chief Minister acknowledged the structural and bureaucratic barriers that often stifle industrial progress.
“Business investments depend on these three factors. If they are in place, industries come. If not, they leave. We must provide all these facilities in the national capital,” she noted.
Gupta said her government is working on a 100-year development model to make Delhi future-ready and a hub for sustainable growth.
