Gurgaon Becomes India’s First Big Urban District To Vaccinate 50 Per Cent Of Its Population With At Least One Dose

Haryana’s Gurugram has administered over 10.87 lakh Covid-19 vaccine doses (Dose 1: 9,06,006; Dose 2: 1,81,477) till yesterday (16 June) thus becoming the first major urban district in the country to inoculate more than 50 per cent of its total population with at least one jab.
As per UIDAI database, population of Gurgaon district in 2021 is estimated to be 17,40,740. With more than nine lakh people receiving at least one dose, the district has crossed the 50 per cent threshold.

Though 52 per cent population has received at least one dose, the proportion of fully vaccinated remains low at 10.42. However, compared to other urban clusters, Gurgaon is still ahead.
After Gurgaon, Indore is poised to join the ‘50 per cent +’ club next as soon as today. It has administered a total of 17,86,541 doses (1st Dose: 15,33,409; 2nd Dose: 253,132) as per the latest data on CoWin dashboard. Its population is estimated to be around 31,13,445 which means that the district has inoculated 49.2 per cent of the population with at least one dose and 8.13 per cent people have been fully vaccinated.
As of today (17 June), 16 districts (including New Delhi and Mumbai as a one unit) in the country have vaccinated more than a quarter of their population with at least one dose.
