Officials from the Gurgaon Metro Rail Limited (GMRL) confirmed on Sunday (3 August) that bids for Gurgaon Millennium City Centre–Cyber City Phase 1 have been opened, with the joint venture of Dilip Buildcon Ltd (DBL) and RBL emerging as the lowest bidder, Times of India reported.
“The evaluation is in the final stages. We expect to complete the process within this month and are aiming to start construction work by Sept. Once work begins, the project is slated for completion within 30 months,” a senior GMRL official was quoted as saying.
The corridor, approved by the Union Cabinet in 2023, is being developed in three phases to address the city’s growing transport requirements.
Phase 1 will involve a 15.2 km elevated line stretching from Millennium City Centre to Sector 9, with an estimated cost of Rs 1,503 crore. The tender for civil work was floated in March this year, attracting eight bidders, of which six cleared the technical evaluation.
This stretch will feature 14 stations, including Sector 45, Cyber Park, Sector 47, Subhash Chowk, Sector 48, Sector 33, Hero Honda Chowk, Udyog Vihar 6, Sector 10, Sector 37, Basai and Sector 101.
The scope of work also includes a 1.8 km spur linking the corridor to the Dwarka Expressway and a ramp connecting to the proposed metro depot at Sector 33.
Currently, Gurgaon is served by the Delhi Metro’s Yellow Line, which terminates at Millennium City Centre, and the Rapid Metro.
The new line is expected to ease congestion in densely populated areas such as Sectors 9, 4, 5, 10 and 7, providing crucial connectivity between old and new parts of the city.
