The Himachal Pradesh government has commenced work on an aerial ropeway connecting the Kullu Bus Stand to Peej Paragliding Point, an ambitious initiative aimed at enhancing tourism in Kullu district, reported Times of India.

With an estimated cost of Rs 80 crore, the 1.2 km long ropeway will offer a safe and hassle-free mode of transport for tourists, enhancing access to Peej village, which is at present 12 km off the road from Kullu.

Peej is the gateway to the picturesque Lug Valley, which is known for its scenic views and adventure sports.

The new ropeway is expected to further boost tourism, creating new economic opportunities for surrounding communities and responding to the demands of adventure seekers who will now be able to enjoy paragliding in the area.

Once completed, the ropeway would offer easy access to Peej Paragliding Point, making it an ideal destination for both novice and experienced paragliders.

This initiative is part of the government's broader vision to promote adventure tourism, religious tourism, and water sports tourism, identifying the industry as a key driver of the state's economy.
