Haryana Election: BJP Wins High-Profile Uchana Kalan Seat By Just 32 Votes, Dushyant Chautala Finishes Fifth

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is set to win 49 seats in the Haryana assembly elections for the first time ever. The lowest victory margin has been recorded in Uchana Kalan.

Here, BJP candidate Devender Chatar Bhuj Attri, defeated former BJP MP Brijendra Singh, who contested on a Congress ticket won by a narrow margin of 32 votes.

Until now, the BJP's highest tally was 47 in 2014. In 2019, it won 40 seats. With 49 seats, the BJP will become the first party to reach this tally in two decades.

The last time, Congress got more seats than this was in 2004, when it won 67 seats, but since then, no party has reached this mark.

Another interesting fact that emerged from this seat is that former Deputy Chief Minister Dushyant Chautala came fifth in this seat.

He had won the seat in 2019 by getting 92,504 votes. However, he could not secure even one-tenth of those votes this time and got only 7,950 votes.

Thus, the seat upset two big leaders, a former MP and a former deputy CM and awarded a narrow victory to a lesser-known face of the BJP.

This also means that the BJP will be able to form a government in the state for the third consecutive term, an unprecedented feat.
