Since violence broke out in West Bengal after the 2021 State Assembly election results, more precautionary measures are being taken this time for the Lok Sabha election results, scheduled to be declared tomorrow (4 June).

ANI reported citing sources that around 400 companies of the Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) comprising over 40,000 security personnel will remain deployed in the state until 19 June to control any violent event.

Central Reserved Police Force (CRPF) will form the majority of the CAPFs deployed in anticipation of any post-poll violence. The CAPFs will establish area dominance and build confidence among citizens.

Border Security Force (BSF), Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), Indo-Tibetan Board Police Force (ITBP) and Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) are other CAPFs that will be deployed.

With the maintenance of law and order in the state, a peaceful environment will be ensured after the election results, as per officials. Earlier, 900 companies of CAPFs were deployed for voting in several phases.

This was the maximum for any state, followed by Jammu and Kashmir, for which 635 CAPF companies were requested by the Election Commission of India (ECI) and Naxal-affected Chhattisgarh, for which 360 companied were requested.
