India and South Korea on Saturday (August 16) resolved to broaden their strategic partnership by setting new “industrial ambition” in high-tech sectors such as semiconductors, artificial intelligence, clean energy, shipbuilding, and defence, The Business Line reported.
The decision came during talks between External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and his visiting South Korean counterpart Cho Hyun.
The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said the two ministers took stock of existing cooperation across political, security, trade, technology, and people-to-people areas, while underlining the importance of diversifying collaboration into critical and emerging industries.
In a social media post, Jaishankar described the discussions as “productive,” noting that both sides also exchanged perspectives on the Indo-Pacific and contemporary global issues.
He thanked Seoul for condemning the 22 April Pahalgam terror attack and for supporting an Indian parliamentary delegation after Operation Sindoor.
Marking a decade of the “Special Strategic Partnership,” the two leaders reaffirmed shared democratic values, mutual trust, and their commitment to regional and global peace, pledging to accelerate cooperation in future-oriented sectors.
