Indian Army has reportedly destroyed multiple Pakistani military posts along the Line of Control (LoC) in the Rajouri-Poonch sector in Jammu and Kashmir.

This comes amid rising tensions and heavy cross-border shelling by Pakistani troops after Indian strikes destroyed terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK).

In a statement, the Indian Army said that the Pakistani troops continued to resort to unprovoked firing across the LoC in J&K.

"During the night of May 7-8, Pakistan Army posts resorted to unprovoked fire using small arms and artillery guns across the LoC in areas opposite Kupwara, Baramulla, Uri and Akhnoor areas in J&K," the Army said, ANI reported.

"Indian Army responded proportionately," the statement added.

According to journalist Shiv Aroor, the Poonch-Rajouri region in J&K has turned into the "most aggressive artillery flashpoint" in recent days, with Pakistani forces now directly targeting civilian villages—a significant escalation in the pattern of ceasefire violations.

In response, Indian Army has destroyed multiple Pakistani posts.

"Pak Army losses up in Rajouri-Poonch as this sector becomes the most aggressive artillery flashpoint. They’re directly targeting villages, the Indian Army has destroyed a whole arc of their posts. Big damage," Aroor said in a post on X.

Earlier on 7 May, 15 Indians were killed and 43 others injured in Poonch and Tangdhar in J&K as Pakistan resorted to arbitrary firing and heavy shelling along the Line of Control and the International Border on Wednesday (5 May), India Today reported.

The heavy firing came soon after India launched 'Operation Sindoor' at 1.05 am, with precision strikes on nine terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK) linked to Jaish-e-Mohammed, Lashkar-e-Taiba, and Hizbul Mujahideen.
