Indian Railways has launched Mizoram’s first Rajdhani Express on Saturday (13 September) to boost connectivity between the Northeastern state and Delhi.

This new Rajdhani express train service has been launched after a gap of six-year gap, reported The Times Of India.

The weekly train will connect Sairang, near Aizawl, with Anand Vihar Terminal in Delhi, significantly reducing travel time and strengthening Northeast connectivity.

The inaugural special, Train No. 02057 Sairang–Anand Vihar Terminal, departed form Sairang on 13 September at 10.00 pm and will reach Anand Vihar on 15 September at 07.30 am.

From 19 September onward, the service will operate weekly as Train No. 20507/20508 Sairang–Anand Vihar Rajdhani Express.

Train No. 20507 will leave Sairang every Friday at 4.30 pm and arrive in Delhi on Sunday at 10.50 am.

Train No. 20508 will depart Delhi every Sunday at 7.50 pm, reaching Sairang on Tuesday at 3.15 pm.

The train will halt at key stations including Bairabi, Hailakandi, Badarpur Jn., New Haflong, Hojai, Guwahati, Rangiya Jn., Barpeta Road, New Bongaigaon, New Cooch Behar, New Jalpaiguri, Malda Town, Sahebganj, Bhagalpur, Jamalpur, Pt. Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Jn., Patna Jn., and Kanpur Central.

The fully air-conditioned rake will offer multiple classes of accommodation, catering facilities, and modern amenities in line with Rajdhani standards.

The service will drastically shorten travel time for passengers traveling between the Northeast and Delhi when compared to other trains currently in service.

Railway authorities view this launch as a landmark for Mizoram. Sairang will now emerge as a major railway hub, reducing dependence on Assam’s stations.

With Rajdhani connectivity, Mizoram joins Assam, Tripura, and Arunachal Pradesh, marking a major boost for tourism, trade, and cultural exchange between the Northeast and the rest of India.
