Industrial Production Increases By 4.2 Per Cent In June As Electric Equipment Manufacturing Grows In Double-Digits

The Quick Estimates of the Index of Industrial Production (IIP) show a 4.2 per cent in June 2024, over the same period of the previous year with the manufacturing of electrical equipment driving the growth.

While the manufacturing sector witnessed only a 2.6 per cent growth, much behind 10.3 per cent in mining and 8.6 per cent in electricity, the electric equipment manufacturing registered growth of 28.4 per cent.

Manufacture of basic metals and manufacture of motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers grew at 4.9 per cent 4.1 per cent respectively.

As per Use-based classification, the maximum growth rate was observed of 8.6 per cent in Consumer durables, followed by 6.3 per cent in primary goods in June 2024 over June 2023,
