Manipur witnessed two violent incidents of attacks on security forces on Wednesday (17 January). One happened in the early morning in Moreh of Tengnoupal district which killed two security personnel and injured six.
The other was reported late at night from Thoubal district. Manipur Police said that "an irate mob" targeted the third Indian Reserve Battalion (3IRB) injuring three Border Security Force (BSF) personnel who are receiving medical treatment at Raj Medicity in Imphal.
Security forces reportedly repelled the mob using the minimum necessary force. However, the mob further attempted to breach Thoubal Police Headquarters, prompting the security forces to use legal force.
"Armed miscreants from among the mob fired with live rounds. As a result, three personnel from BSF sustained bullet injuries namely Constable Gourav Kumar, ASI Sobram Singh, and ASI Ramji," Manipur Police posted on X.
Earlier too, incidents have been reported from Manipur where security establishments were attacked with the intention of looting arms and ammunition.
