IRCON International Limited has received its first contract for implementation of Kavach, an Automatic Train Protection system, from South Western Railway, the company announced on X on Tuesday (20 May).
The order, valued at Rs 253.56 crore, covers the "Survey, design, supply, installation, testing and commissioning of Kavach equipment and other associated works" across 778 route kilometres in the Bengaluru and Mysuru Divisions.
Ircon International Limited said in the X post, “This is New Project Vertical for IRCON, wherein IRCON has the opportunity to contribute to the Safety Enhancement through deployment of Kavach System, as envisioned by Railways.”
IRCON clarified that the contract does not involve any related party transactions.
The company also confirmed that its promoters, promoter group, or affiliated entities have no stake in the awarding authority.
The order was officially announced on 20 May 2025, after market hours.
The Kavach system is an indigenously developed Automatic Train Protection (ATP) technology designed to enhance operational safety and prevent train collisions.
IRCON International, a Navratna public-sector undertaking, specialises in turnkey infrastructure projects, primarily in the railways and highways sectors.
