New revelations came out in the killing of a former sarpanch in Jammu and Kashmir. One, he was associated with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and second, terrorists asked him to share his identity before firing at him.

Terrorists barged into the house of former sarpanch Aijaz Ahmad Sheikh in Shopian on Saturday (18 May) evening and opened fire from point-blank range, hitting him with eight bullets in the chest and abdomen area.

This comes after his video praising Prime Minister Narendra Modi went viral recently where he had appreciated the development efforts.

A large number of people gathered for his funeral on Sunday and praised his work as a sarpanch. He was elected five years ago and his term ended in January this year.

On the same day when Aijaz was killed, in a separate incident at Pahalgam, terrorists fired at a tourist couple. While the husband is said to be critical, the wife is said to be stable and their twins were left unhurt.
