In a significant move, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Rs 24,000-crore Pradhan Mantri Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PM PVTG) Mission from Birsa College ground in Jharkhand's Khunti district.
Launched on the birth anniversary of tribal icon Birsa Munda during the third 'Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas', the mission is dedicated to the holistic development of around 28 lakh PVTGs in India.
The PM PVTG Mission focuses on providing essential amenities such as road and telecom connectivity, electricity, safe housing, clean drinking water, sanitation, improved access to education, health, nutrition, and sustainable livelihood opportunities to PVTG habitations, as reported by The Times Of India.
These habitations are often remote, scattered, and inaccessible, making this initiative crucial for their comprehensive upliftment.
On the same occasion, Prime Minister Modi digitally released Rs 18,000 crore as the 15th installment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme.
This DBT scheme, one of the world's largest, aims to support farmers by providing financial assistance of Rs 6,000 per year, transferred directly into their bank accounts in three equal installments.
