Indian Army has launched a search operation in Jammu and Kashmir's Badipora after the troops spotted suspicious terrorist movement in general area Panar.

"On 01 Nov 2024 late evening, suspicious movement was spotted, in gen area Panar of Bandipora, by alert troops. On being challenged, terrorists opened indiscriminate fire and escaped into the jungle," Indian Army's Chinar Corps said in a post on X on Saturday (2 November).

A search operation is underway, it added.

Meanwhile, in Khanyar locality of Srinagar, another encounter broke out between security forces and terrorists.

The security forces have launched a cordon and search operation following inputs about the presence of terrorists in the area.

The exchange of firing is going on, but so far there are no reports of any casualty on either side, Times of India reported citing officials.

Earlier on Friday, two migrant labourers were shot by terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir's Budgam district.

The injured men, identified as 25-year-old Sofiyan and Usman Malik, were admitted to JVC Hospital Bemina in Srinagar. Both are natives of Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh.

Employed as daily wagers with the Jal Shakti Department, Sofiyan and Usman were reported to be in stable condition following the attack.

After receiving information of the incident, security forces arrived at the scene and initiated a search operation to locate the terrorists.
