The recent decision of the Siddaramaiah-led Congress government of Karnataka to appoint a non-Hindu individual as a member of the Avimukteshwara Brahmotsava Committee in Hoskote Fort in Bengaluru Rural district has stirred a hornet's nest in state politics.
The state BJP unit has stringently criticised the decision and in a post on social media platform X has stated, "After attempting to loot our temples, the Hindu-hating CM @siddaramaiah now seeks to control temples and their resources by appointing non-Hindus."
It further continued, "Congress government in Karnataka appears to be in a hurry to implement Rahul Gandhi's delusional ideas of stripping Hindus of their rights, to favour one particular community. Today it's just one temple in Karnataka, tomorrow it might be every temple in India."
MLA Sharath Bachegowda had requested the government to nominate a committee, responsible for the development activities of the Avimukteshwara temple in Hoskote and the conduction of the Brahmotsava event.
In response to the committee's request, the Tahsildar has appointed 12 members.
Among these 12 members, the selection of a Muslim individual named Nawaz has sparked the outrage from BJP and the majority community.
