Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath attacked the opposition while campaigning for BJP candidate and two-time Mathura MP Hema Malini on Thursday (4 April).

He said that after Hema Malini's name was declared for a third term, the opposition couldn't find a candidate for themselves.

Notably, Congress declared its candidate yesterday only as today is the last date of nomination filing. Mukesh Dhangar is fielded from Mathura.

Adityanath claimed that Congress was frustrated over not finding any candidate and hence made derogatory comments against Hema Malini, hinting at Randeep Surjewala's remarks.

The UP CM highlighted the work done for the development of pilgrimage sites at Mathura, Vrindavan, Barsana, Gokul, Govardhan and Nandgaon.

"Today you see development work at these pilgrimage centres. The case is pending in court for some centres and hence we have to stop. But we believe victory will be ours," he said.

Citing the 500-year-long wait for Ayodhya's Ram Mandir, Adityanath said that we never backed off from struggle. He targeted the opposition for attacking Ram bhakts (devotees).

The UP CM highlighted the development done at Ayodhya. He said, "We have lined up the work for Kashi and Ayodhya. Now our complete focus is on Braj bhoomi (land), the fund will be given."

Adityanath said that for these works to get completed, it is necessary to make Hema Malini victorious for the third time, breaking records of the previous two elections.

He added, among Mathura, Ayodhya and Kashi, the election is happening at first in Mathura, so the message should go from here and spread in whole of Uttar Pradesh.

The voting at Mathura will take place on 26 April in phase 2 of Lok Sabha elections. The counting will be done on 4 June.
