India Hits Multiple Pakistani Air Bases With Missiles
Reports from Pakistani media on Saturday (10 May) stated that Indian aircraft launched air-to-surface missiles targeting three Pakistan Air Force (PAF) bases in the early hours of the day.
According to a statement by Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Director General Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, the missiles were aimed at PAF Nur Khan Airbase in Rawalpindi, PAF Murid base in Chakwal, and PAF Rafiqui base in Shorkot, Jhang district.
“All PAF assets are safe,” Lt Gen Chaudhry said, adding that most of the missiles were intercepted before impact, and those that landed near the bases caused no significant damage.
The incident prompted temporary closure of Pakistan’s airspace. The Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) confirmed that airspace across the country was closed from 3:15am until noon, halting all flight operations during that period.
The strikes are being reported as part of an escalation in cross-border tensions. As of now, there has been no official statement from Indian authorities regarding the reported missile launches.
The situation has drawn regional and international attention amid concerns over continued hostilities. No casualties or infrastructure losses have been reported by Pakistani authorities at this time.
Indian Naval Strike Group Moves Near Karachi
India has deployed a naval strike group in the northern Arabian Sea, not far from the Pakistani coast, following several days of cross-border clashes. According to a report in The Telegraph UK, Indian warships armed with supersonic cruise missiles have moved into position within striking range of Karachi, Pakistan’s largest port and commercial hub.
The western fleet includes an aircraft carrier, destroyers, frigates, and anti-submarine vessels. Several of these warships are equipped with the BrahMos missile.
Hitting Karachin would cripple Pakistan's economy. The Karachi port handles around 60 per cent of the country’s trade. It also houses Pakistan's naval headquarters.
Pakistan Shuts Airspace
Pakistan has closed its airspace for all air traffic until noon today, following a series of Indian retaliatory strikes on key Pakistan Air Force (PAF) bases and selected targets in major cities.
According to reports, the closure comes after several days in which Pakistan kept its airspace open for civilian flights while launching drone attacks on Indian military positions. Indian officials have accused Islamabad of deliberately using civilian aircraft as cover to complicate the air defence environment and hinder Indian response.
The spokesperson for the Pakistan Airports Authority confirmed that the country’s airspace was closed early Saturday morning.
Pakistan Launches Second Wave Of Drone Strikes
For the second night in a row, Pakistan launched waves of drones targeting military sites across India’s northern and western borders. While most were intercepted by Indian air defence systems, one armed drone crashed in a civilian area in Ferozepur, Punjab, injuring several people.
The Indian Army reported drone sightings at 26 locations, from Baramulla in Jammu & Kashmir to Bhuj in Gujarat, posing threats to both military and civilian targets.
Armed forces remain on high alert and are actively using counter-drone systems, urging residents in border areas to stay indoors and follow safety guidelines.
Government sources said many drones were for surveillance, while some carried explosives, and nearly three dozen were shot down in Jammu & Kashmir alone.
