The National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC), in collaboration with the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC), has launched electric air-conditioned city buses along routes connected to Namo Bharat stations in the capital.
The initiative, has begun operations at New Ashok Nagar and Anand Vihar stations, which lie along the Delhi stretch of the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut Namo Bharat corridor.
Three key routes have been identified under the first phase, with one service starting directly from the New Ashok Nagar Namo Bharat station.
“Now, the integration of electric buses started under the DEVI Bus Scheme marks another step forward to provide fast and environment-friendly travel options to and from Namo Bharat stations,” the official statement read on X.
The electric buses will run between 6:30 am and 11 pm daily, with dedicated stopovers at Namo Bharat stations to ensure seamless access for commuters.
The designated routes include New Ashok Nagar Namo Bharat Station to Anand Vihar ISBT, Anand Vihar ISBT to Ashok Nagar Border, and Ashok Nagar Border to Mayur Vihar Phase-3 Paper Market.
This new service complements existing last-mile options such as e-rickshaws and app-based services like Rapido, which are already operational at several stations in Ghaziabad.
Currently, a 55 km stretch of the 82 km Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS corridor is operational, with 11 stations between New Ashok Nagar and Meerut South. Full commissioning of the corridor is expected by the end of the year.
