In the aftermath of its failed attempt to target 15 Indian cities, Pakistan launched missiles and drones in J&K, Punjab and Rajasthan.

The city of Jammu was rocked by loud explosions, triggering sirens and an enforced blackout.

According to media reports, Pakistan hit several other cities in bordering states of Punjab, Rajasthan and the Jammu region.

Civilian targets were hit in Jammu, Udhampur, Akhnoor, Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Jaisalmer among others.

India has activated its air defence mechanism and many Pakistani drones and missiles were shot down.

Further, Indian fighter jets have also launched counter operations.

Videos recorded by locals showed streaks of light across the night sky, pointing to successful interceptions by India’s Air Defence System.

The Jammu administration has advised people advised to stay indoors and follow SOPs issued by NDMA and the government.

Further, Pakistan also engaged in ceasefire violation at Line of Control in several sectors of J&K.

Pakistani troops reportedly resorted to heavy artillery fire. Meanwhile, Indian Army is giving a strong response to the ceasefire violation.

This comes after India thwarted Pakistan's attempt on early Thursday (8 May) to target around 15 India cities in the northern and the western part of the country.

In response, India targeted Pakistan's air defence systems at multiple locations, and neutralised one in Lahore.
