Tesla CEO and Twitter owner Elon Musk will meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the latter's state visit to the United States.

Prime Minister Modi is on a state visit to the US from 21 June to 24 June.

In 2015, the Prime Minister visited the Tesla Motors factory in California and met Musk.

At that time, Musk did not yet own Twitter.

PM Modi's upcoming meeting with Musk is particularly significant as Tesla is reportedly searching for a location to establish its India factory.

A team of Tesla executives had visited India last month, reportedly offering to set up a local vendor base in the country.

Earlier in an interview with The Wall Street Journal, Musk expressed his interest in the Indian market, stating, "Absolutely."

He also revealed that Tesla is aiming to finalise a location for its India factory by the end of this year.

The Prime Minister will meet with more than two dozen thought-leaders from various fields after he lands in New York today (21 June), NDTV reported citing sources.

The thought-leaders includes Nobel laureates, economists, artists, scientists, scholars, entrepreneurs, academics, and health experts.

The Prime Minister's engagement with these leaders is reportedly aimed at gaining insight into the current state of affairs in the US and explore potential opportunities for collaboration.

PM Modi will meet with author and astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson, economist Paul Romer, statistician Nicholas Nassim Taleb, and investor Ray Dalio, in addition to Elon Musk.

He will also meet with physician and Nobel laureate Dr Peter Agre, healthcare expert Dr Stephen Klasko, and Indian-American businesswoman and artist Chandrika Tandon.

This morning, the Prime Minister left for the US on a prestigious State Visit, an honour that Washington DC reserves for its closest allies.

During the visit, PM Modi will also address a joint session of the US Congress. He will also meet with business leaders and Indian expats, and will have a state dinner at the White House with US President Joe Biden.
