Punjab Police has reported averting possible target killings as it arrested two members of Babbar Khalsa International (BKI)-backed terror module on Thursday (7 March).

The module was operated by USA-based Harpreet Singh aka Happy Passian, who is a close aide of Pakistan-based terrorist Harwinder Singh Rinda.

His associate identified as Shamsher Singh aka Shera, presently based in Armenia was also one of the key handlers of the module. The arrests were made in an intelligence-based operation.

"As per preliminary investigations, Happy Passian was working in connivance with Rinda and Shamsher to radicalise the youth by motivating them to carry out anti-national activities in the state," the police said.

Two pistols along with four magazines and 30 live cartridges were recovered from the arrestees. FIR has been registered under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) and Arms Act.

In January, Kailash Khichan, who is said to be a key operative of Rinda and Happy Passian was arrested in a joint operation by Punjab Police and Central agencies.

Preliminary interrogation revealed that the accused Khichan was supplying weapons to the associates of the terrorist outfit BKI to carry out sensational crimes in Punjab, at the direction of terrorist Rinda.
