Congress leader Rahul Gandhi reiterated the party president Mallikarjun Kharge's claim of INDI Alliance winning 295 seats in the Lok Sabha elections.

This comes after most of the exit polls predicted a full majority for the BJP-led government and consequently, a third term for Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

When Gandhi was questioned about exit poll numbers, he said, "It is not exit poll, it is Modi media poll. It is Modi ji's poll, it is his fantasy poll."

When he was asked about the number of seats INDI Alliance would win, Gandhi said, "Have you heard Sidhu Moosewala's song? 295? It is 295."

Sidhu Moosewala is a Punjabi singer, who was shot dead in 2022. His 295 song talks about section 295 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) which concerns punishing those insulting religion.

A punishment with imprisonment of either description for a term which may extend to two years, or with fine, or with both is prescribed for injuring or defiling a place of worship under this section.

There are 543 members in Lok Sabha and 272 is the majority mark. With this claim, Gandhi is asserting that the INDI Alliance will form a government, while PM Modi has already begun third-term preparations.
