RailTel announced its highest ever consolidated income of Rs 1,411 crore in its board meeting, a growth of 21 per cent over consolidated income of Rs 1,166 crore in the financial year 2019-20.
With this, RailTel, a PSU of Indian Railways, has posted a profit before tax amounting to Rs 197 crore and profit after tax of Rs 142 crore during the Financial Year 2020-2021 on consolidated basis.
The company has registered a total income of Rs 440 crore in the fourth quarter, which is a five per cent increase over the preceding quarter and eight per cent higher on year-on-year basis.
RailTel’s consolidated revenue from operations for the fourth quarter ending March 31, 2021 stood at Rs 430 crore, registering a growth of five per cent on quarter-on-quarter basis and nine per cent on year-on-year basis.
Talking about the future prospects of the company, RailTel chairman and managing director Puneet Chawla said, “Digital transformation of businesses has become imperative as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic. We have seen substantial growth in our retail broadband service — Rail Wire, HD video conference, Data Centre, IBW, VPN services — and the trend is likely to continue.
"We have around a Rs 4,500-crore order book on the back of new orders. We are also focusing on the heath, education sectors and providing IoT, AI-based solutions to clients. Overall, RailTel is on a growth trajectory and we are committed to posting higher revenue growth each year.”
RailTel, a Central Public Sector Enterprise, is one of the largest neutral telecom infrastructure providers in the country owning a Pan-India optic fiber network covering several towns and cities and rural areas across the country.
Along with a strong a reliable network of over 59,500 km of optic fibre and with its all-India high-capacity network, RailTel is working towards creating a knowledge society at various fronts and has been selected for implementation of various mission-mode projects for the Government of India in the telecom field.
RailTel offers a bundle of services like MPLS-VPN, Telepresence, leased line, Tower Co-location, and Data center services etc.
RailTel is also working with the Railways to transform stations into digital hubs by providing public Wi-Fi across the country. Currently, over 6,020 stations are live with RailTel’s RailWire Wi-Fi.
