Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Friday (16 May) praised the Indian Air Force for its decisive role in Operation Sindoor, describing it as a mission that not only neutralised terrorists but earned global recognition for India's military prowess.
Speaking at the Bhuj Air Base, Singh said, "Indian Air Force assumed a very impactful role in Operation Sindoor and it is being appreciated not only in this country but also in the countries of the world. In this Operation, you not only dominated the enemies but also successfully decimated them."
He emphasised that the anti-terror operation, which drew wide international attention, was led from the front by the Indian Armed Forces.
Lauding the courage and capabilities of the IAF, Singh stated, "This Operation against terrorism was led by our Indian Armed Force. Our Air Force is such a sky force which has touched the zenith of the sky through its valour and bravery."
Singh also personally acknowledged the leadership of Air Chief Marshal AP Singh.
"I would also like to thank Air Chief Marshal AP Singh for this, his efforts, his entire team and all his jawans. This is no small thing that our Air Force can reach every corner of Pakistan and this has been proven in every manner..." he added.
He also reiterated that Operation Sindoor is not over.
"I would like to make one more thing clear here. 'Operation Sindoor' is not over yet. Whatever happened was just a trailer. When the right time comes, we will show the full picture," he said.
He also slammed the International Monetary Fund (IMF) for approving loans for Pakistan.
"I believe that, in today’s context, any form of economic assistance to Pakistan amounts to terror financing. India would like the IMF to reconsider its $1 billion assistance to Pakistan and refrain from offering any further aid. We do not want our contributions to the IMF to be used—directly or indirectly—to fund terror infrastructure in Pakistan or in any other country," Singh said.
Operation Sindoor, launched earlier this month, was a high-impact military response to cross-border terrorism and has since been widely viewed as a strategic success.
The Indian Air Force’s precision strikes and rapid deployment capability were seen as pivotal to the mission's effectiveness.
