The upcoming Ayodhya wax museum, dedicated to the Ramayana, is in its final stages and is expected to be inaugurated during Deepotsav, a day before Diwali, according to the Hindustan Times.
Spread over 10,000 square foot on the Parikrama Path of the Ram Mandir, the museum will feature nearly 50 lifelike statues of central figures from the epic, including Shri Ram, Sita, Lakshman, Hanuman, Sugriv, and Jatayu.
Each statue is being designed with intricate detailing to capture expressions, costumes, and historical authenticity. A Maharashtra-based organisation, with support from Kerala-based experts.
Alongside the statues, the museum will recreate key episodes of the Ramayana, such as the Ram-Ravan battle, Sita’s abduction, Hanuman’s leap to Lanka, and the construction of the Ram Setu.
These will be presented through a mix of wax artistry, modern technology, and audio-visual effects to enhance visitor engagement. Interactive elements are also being incorporated to appeal to younger audiences.
Municipal Commissioner Jayendra Kumar said the construction of the wax museum is moving swiftly and is under close supervision to ensure timely completion.
The project, valued at around Rs 7.5 crore, is being developed under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model, similar to the Bhool Bhulaiya initiative in Amaniganj.
Divisional Commissioner Rajesh Kumar said the museum would enhance Ayodhya’s cultural offerings by providing visitors with an immersive experience of the Ramayana.
Along with the museum, other initiatives such as road widening, beautification of the Saryu ghats, and major infrastructure improvements are underway to develop Ayodhya into a leading religious and cultural hub.
Deepotsav, celebrated annually with millions of lamps illuminating the city, has already brought Ayodhya international recognition and world records, further boosting its appeal.
