Jan Suraj chief Prashant Kishor issued an "ultimatum" to the Bihar government on Thursday (26 December), demanding the resolution of issues concerning Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) aspirants within three days or he will lead the protests himself.

Addressing students at Gardanibagh in Patna, Kishor criticised the 'lathi-charge' against the protesters. He urged the NDA-led Bihar government to act swiftly on two specific demands of the students.

"The government should meet with student representatives and consider their demand for a re-examination. Yesterday, a student committed suicide, which is unfortunate. The government should announce a compensation of Rs 10,00,000 for the family of the deceased without delay," Kishor demanded, news agency ANI reported.

Reiterating his ultimatum, Kishor cautioned that if the government failed to address the issue within three days, he would join the protests and take a leading role in the demonstrations.

"This is my ultimatum to the government - if the issue is not resolved within three days and the students decide to protest further, I will be at the forefront," Kishor said.

The BPSC aspirants had gathered outside the commission's office in Patna, demanding the cancellation of the exam.

The protests, which started on 13 December, were sparked by allegations of irregularities in the examination conducted by BPSC.

Candidates have claimed that the question paper was leaked, and there were delays in distributing the papers.

Aspirants alleged that the question paper was leaked and pointed to delays in its distribution.

Some candidates reported receiving the paper almost an hour late, while others claimed their answer sheets were torn, intensifying concerns about a possible leak.
