BJP MLA T Raja Singh resigned from the party on Monday (30 June) following buzz of a leadership change in its Telangana unit as per a report by Hindustan Times. His resignation came soon after reports indicated that N Ramchander Rao was being appointed as the BJP Telangana's new president.

In a letter to BJP Telangana chief G Kishan Reddy, Singh said the decision had come as a “shock and disappointment”.

Singh, known for his controversial statements, wrote that lakhs of BJP workers and voters shared his disappointment over Ramchander Rao’s reported appointment. He claimed several capable senior leaders in the state were better suited to lead the party forward.

Also, he further clarified that though he is quitting the party, he remains committed to the ideology of Hindutva, and also said he would continue to work for the Hindu community and represent the people of the Goshamahal constituency.

In April, two cases were filed against Singh for allegedly using inappropriate language and threatening police during a Ram Navami event.
