Terrorists Target Army Vehicle in Jammu & Kashmir's Baramulla: Two Soldiers, Two Porters Killed

Two Indian Army soldiers and two porters were killed after terrorists attacked an army patrol vehicle in the Gulmarg region of Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday (24 October).

Two other soldiers were reportedly injured in the attack and have been moved to a medical facility for treatment.

The army vehicle came under fire near the Nagin post area of Butapathri, Gulmarg near the Line of Control (LoC), News18 reported citing police sources.

The two porters killed in the attack have been identified as Mushtaq Ahmed Choudhary from Nowshehra Boniyar, Baramulla, and Zahoor Ahmad Mir from Barnate Boniyar, Baramulla.

The Jammu and Kashmir police reportedly suspect the attack may have been linked to an infiltration attempt near the LoC.

Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha stated that he has spoken with top army officials on the heinous terror attack in the Butapathri Sector and directed for swift and befitting reply to neutralise terrorists.

“Sacrifice of our martyrs will not go in vain. Condolences to their families. Praying for speedy recovery of injured,” LG Sinha added.

The Indian Army's Chinar Corps confirmed that a brief exchange of gunfire took place between Indian Army personnel and terrorists in the Butapathri area of Baramulla.

Earlier on Thursday, in a separate incident in Jammu and Kashmir’s Ganderbal district, a migrant labourer was shot and injured.

The victim has been identified as Pritam Singh, a resident of Uttar Pradesh.
