Soon after Trinamool Congress (TMC) removed Kunal Ghosh from the position of party general secretary, he started spilling beans of the West Bengal's ruling government.

Ghosh alleged that the TMC was "well aware of the fact that large-scale corruption and extortion in lieu of jobs was taking place in the school education department."

He was referring to the teachers' job scam, taking note of which the Calcutta High Court canceled the recruitment of over 23,000 staff and asked them to return their salaries with interest.

Ghosh further alleged in an interview with Bengali news channel ABP Ananda, "The party was aware of it even before the 2021 assembly polls," NDTV reported.

He claimed that knowing about this "large-scale corruption" the party shifted Partha Chatterjee to the industry department from the education ministry after coming to power in 2021.

Notably, Partha Chatterjee was arrested in July 2022 and his close aide Arpita Mukherjee was arrested in August 2022 with Rs 21 crore cash. He was then removed from the Cabinet post.

Ghosh was earlier removed from the position of party spokesperson. After he was seen sharing stage with BJP's Kolkata Uttar candidate Tapas Roy, he had to leave general secretary position as well.

Roy joined BJP just a few months ahead of the Lok Sabha elections. He was in the TMC earlier and thus has relations with Ghosh. Ghosh is also known to be close to Abhishek Banerjee.
