Ratlam Additional Superintendent of Police, Rakesh Khakha, told the media that the precise time was 2.41 am.

The temple, Jagannath Mahadev Mandir, is located in the Jaora city of Ratlam. The bloodied head was discovered by pujaris (temple priests) in the morning. They immediately informed the police and local residents, triggering protests and a call for the closure of the market.

Later in the day, police identified and arrested two men, Mohammed Salman Meo and Mohammed Shakir Qureshi, for the act. The local administration reportedly razed down the “illegal” portions of the houses of both the accused.
