US President Donald Trump secured a major legislative victory on Thursday (3 July) as Congress passed his massive $4.5 trillion ‘Big Beautiful Bill’, with the House narrowly approving it 218–214 and forwarding it for his signature, India Today reported.

The approval marks Trump’s biggest win of his second term—securing border enforcement funding, locking in his 2017 tax cuts permanently, and fulfilling his 2024 campaign pledge of additional tax relief.

The White House announced that Trump will sign the bill into law on Friday (4 July) evening.

Calling it a historic moment, Trump hailed the bill’s passage, stating, “The biggest bill of its kind ever signed — and it's going to make this country into a rocket ship. It's going to be really great.”

Trump further praised the $3.4 trillion tax and spending package, saying, “I think when you go over the bill, it was very easy to get them to a 'Yes.' ... Biggest tax cut in history, great for security, great on the southern border ... we covered just about everything. Again, it's the biggest bill ever signed of its kind.”

After the bill's passage, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt stated during a press call: “The one ‘big, beautiful bill’ has passed the House of Representatives and will be at the president’s desk for signature at a big, beautiful signing ceremony tomorrow at 5 pm on the Fourth of July, just as the president always said and hoped it would be.”

Despite being over 800 pages and facing hurdles, the bill marks a major second-term win for Trump.

GOP leaders worked through the night, with Trump applying direct pressure to push the bill over the finish line.

Though passed, the slim margin exposed internal GOP divisions. Democrats are expected to use the bill’s provisions as a campaign flashpoint in the lead-up to the next national election.
