In a significant push to modernise India's railway network, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is all set to flag off three new Vande Bharat Express trains on Sunday (10 August), enhancing high-speed connectivity in the country.
The launches, part of the 'Make in India' initiative, will cover routes from Amritsar to Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra in Jammu and Kashmir, Pune to Ajni in Nagpur, Maharashtra, and Bengaluru to Belagavi in Karnataka.
PM Modi will launch the trains during his visit to Karnataka on Sunday.
He will flag off 3 Vande Bharat Express trains at KSR Railway Station in Bengaluru at around 11 am.
These high-speed trains will significantly enhance regional connectivity, reduce travel time and provide a world-class travel experience to the passengers.
According to Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, 144 Vande Bharat train services are currently operational across the broad gauge electrified network in India as on Thursday (7 August).
The Vande Bharat Express trains have been running with over 100 per cent occupancy on all routes.
The overall occupancy of Vande Bharat Express trains in the financial year 2024-25 was 102.01 per cent.
However, in the ongoing fiscal year i.e. FY26, the passenger occupancy of these new age trains are 105.03 per cent (till June 2025).
“The overall occupancy of Vande Bharat Express trains in Financial Year 2024-25 & 2025-26 (till June, 2025) is 102.01% & 105.03% respectively,” Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw informed Lok Sabha in July.
