In a heartening gesture, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who attended the 2023 ODI World Cup final in Ahmedabad on Sunday (19 November), paid a visit to the Indian dressing room following the team's challenging loss to Australia.
The footage captured the moment as Prime Minister Modi interacted with the players, providing a morale boost in the aftermath of the intense final.
All-rounder Ravindra Jadeja and standout seamer Mohammed Shami took to social media to share photos with the Prime Minister, expressing appreciation for his motivational visit.
Shami, the tournament's leading wicket-taker with 24 scalps in seven matches, thanked Indians for their support and acknowledged Prime Minister Modi's role in lifting the team's spirits, saying, "We will bounce back!"
Jadeja, reflecting on the team's overall performance, stated, "We had a great tournament but we ended up short yesterday. PM Narendra Modi’s visit to the dressing room yesterday was special and very motivating."
The video footage captures the camaraderie between Prime Minister Modi and the players, showcasing his encouragement to the team.
In the post-final ceremony, Prime Minister Modi, alongside Australia’s Deputy Prime Minister Richard Marles, presented the World Cup trophy to Australian skipper Pat Cummins.
The victory marked Australia's sixth ODI World Cup win, with Cummins securing his second title after the 2015 triumph on home turf.
