Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday (22 August) addressed the Indian community in Warsaw, Poland.

Addressing the gathering, PM Modi highlighted India's growing global influence, its dedication to peace, and the deep historical ties between India and Poland.

He urged the Indian diaspora to act as ambassadors for India's growth story and cultural heritage.

Here are the key highlights of PM Modi's Speech:

Strengthening Global Ties:

PM Modi emphasised India's shift from maintaining equal distance to building close relations with all countries.

He stated that today’s India seeks to connect with everyone, promote global development, and ensure mutual welfare.

Celebrating Historical Connections:

He recounted the compassionate actions of Jam Saheb Digvijaysinhji Ranjitsinhji Jadeja during World War II, who provided refuge to thousands of Polish women and children.

Modi announced the launch of the ‘Jam Saheb Memorial Youth Exchange Program’ to further strengthen these ties.

Humanitarian Commitment:

Modi highlighted India’s unwavering commitment to humanitarian values, recalling India’s aid during the COVID-19 pandemic and its quick response to global crises.

“Whenever there is a crisis in any country, India is the first to extend a helping hand... During the COVID-19 pandemic, India stood by the principle of ‘Humanity First'" he said.

Call for Global Peace:

Emphasising India’s advocacy for peace, PM Modi stressed that this is not the era of war but a time to unite against the greatest threats to humanity.

“India is a land of Buddha’s heritage, and when we talk about Buddha, we talk about peace, not war. That is why India is a strong advocate for lasting peace in this region. India’s stance is clear: this is not the era of war," Modi said.

India’s Economic and Technological Advancements:

Modi also spoke about India’s rapid economic growth and technological advancements, including its leadership in space exploration and the upcoming 6G network.

“India is not far from becoming the world’s third-largest economy. I have promised the people of India that during my third term, India will achieve this milestone," he said.

Strengthening India-Poland Relations:

Announcing a new Social Security Agreement between India and Poland, Modi also highlighted the growing partnership in new technology and clean energy sectors between the two countries.

Appeal to the Diaspora:

He called on the Indian community in Poland to promote Indian tourism and cultural heritage, urging them to become brand ambassadors for India.

“You must also become brand ambassadors of Indian tourism... Each of you should encourage at least five Polish families to visit India every year," he said.
