West Bengal BJP has alleged that Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is trying to "mislead people" by organising an interfaith rally on the same day when Ram Mandir at Ayodhya is being inaugurated.
The Trinamool Congress (TMC) supremo announced last week that she will be conducting a rally in Kolkata which will "cover mosques, temples, churches, and gurdwaras."
Talking about this, BJP leader Dilip Ghosh said that the TMC government is trying to stop people from participating in Ram Mandir celebrations through the all-faith rally and condemned this attempt.
Ghosh alleged, "The 'Sampriti (harmony) Rally' by TMC is an attempt to mislead people". TMC responded by saying that this rally has nothing to do with Ram Mandir's inauguration, The Hindu reported.
Banerjee will start at 3 pm by offering prayers to Goddess Kali at Kalighat Mandir, followed by an interfaith rally from Hazra to Park Circus Maidan, where a meeting will be held.
Her nephew and TMC national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee posted on X yesterday, "My RELIGION has not taught me to accept and embrace a place of worship, whether it be a MANDIR, MASJID, CHURCH or GURUDWARA, which has been built over HATRED, VIOLENCE and the dead bodies of innocents. Period!"
