West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee cut all relations with his youngest brother Babun Banerjee after he said that the Trinamool Congress' (TMC) Howrah candidate was unacceptable to him.

TMC has chosen former footballer Prasun Banerjee as its Howrah candidate, who has been representing the constituency since 2013.

However, Babun Banerjee claimed that he was a "wrong choice" and should not be a party candidate. He even pledged to contest as an Independent against him if 'Didi' did not accept his demand.

Responding to this, the TMC supremo said that she is disowning him and does not consider him to be part of her family. Banerjee also claimed that she does not believe in dynasty politics.

"Maa Mati Manush’is my family. In terms of blood relations, I have a family of 32 members. But no one is like him. Everyone is unhappy with him," Banerjee was quoted as saying by Indian Express.

Asserting that she would not tolerate him anymore, Banerjee said, "Anyone can fight elections from anywhere. We will stand by our party candidate."

On her youngest of the five brothers, Banerjee said, "He has forgotten his childhood. He was two-and-a-half years old when our father died. We brought him up with much hardship."
