The former principal of Kolkata's RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, where a 31-year-old trainee doctor was raped and murdered, is being questioned by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
Dr Sandip Ghosh, who had stepped down after the incident but was designated as head of another medical college within hours, was questioned for the fourth consecutive day by the CBI.
The Calcutt High Court had transferred the case to the CBI citing lapses in the investigation of the West Bengal Police. It also noted that Dr Ghosh should have been the first person to be questioned.
The major allegation against Ghosh is that the victim's parents were made to wait for more than three hours before they could see their daughter's body.
The CBI is trying to establish why the parents were made to wait and the sequence of events after Ghosh came to know about the incident and whom he contacted first.
The renovation of rooms near the seminar hall, where the crime happened, is another angle being explored by the CBI as it questioned Ghosh who ordered it.
Ghosh was interrogated for several hours on both Saturday and Sunday as well. Officers from the central investigative agency are also examining his mobile phone call logs and WhatsApp chat history.
Another allegation is that the parents were earlier informed that their daughter had committed suicide and they got to know about the murder only when the saw her body.
An accused named Sanjay Roy has been arrested while the parents suspect a gang rape. There have been widespread protests by the medical fraternity after the incident.
