The Greater Noida Authority has unveiled plans for a 4 km elevated road connecting Ek Murti Chowk in Greater Noida West to NH-9 via Shahberi and Crossings Republik, Times of India reported.

The proposed six-lane corridor will link Greater Noida, Greater Noida West, Ghaziabad, and Delhi through the Delhi-Meerut Expressway (DME), .

The 8 km stretch from Ek Murti Chowk to DME, which cuts across densely populated high-rise zones like Shahberi and Crossings Republik, witnesses severe congestion daily.

With the Noida International Airport in Jewar expected to become operational later this year, authorities expect a significant spike in vehicular load on this corridor.

"Greater Noida West and Crossings Republik in Ghaziabad are hubs of high-rise apartments, but poor connectivity between the two cities causes daily traffic jams on this stretch. Traffic is expected to worsen as more people move into new housing projects. The elevated road is expected to benefit commuters travelling to and from Greater Noida, and also those commuting to Noida airport in Jewar," Greater Noida CEO Ravi Kumar NG was quoted as saying by ToI.

The Rs 400 crore project, approved by the Greater Noida Authority board in March, has been proposed as a regional connectivity corridor.

The Authority has approached the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) to execute the project and has allocated funds for preparing a detailed project report (DPR), which is expected to take 4–5 months.

The board has proposed a collaborative funding model involving the Greater Noida Authority (GNIDA), Noida Authority, and Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA).

However, Noida and YEIDA are likely to be reluctant to fund a project situated entirely within GNIDA’s jurisdiction, ToI reported citing sources.

The elevated corridor joins a list of upcoming transport projects such as the Noida Expressway bypass and the Chilla Elevated Road, aimed at managing future traffic surge once the airport begins operations.
